The Color Run 5k Event

the color run logo       The Color Run™ 5K event, also known as "the happiest 5K on the Planet," is coming to the Oklahoma City Adventure District! And ZooFriends has been chosen as the official charity of the run, slated for Saturday, April 12, 2014!

The Color Run™ is gaining worldwide popularity and will took place in more than 100 cities around the globe in 2013. The run is a unique paint race that celebrates healthiness, happiness and individuality.

Volunteers are Key!

As the official charity, ZooFriends, will receive a donation from The Color Run for each person who registers to volunteer. ZooFriends is the 501 (c)3 non-profit organization created to support and promote the Oklahoma City Zoo and its programs in education, conservation, zoological research and recreation.

Volunteers, 16 and older, are needed to help with event preparation, set up and clean up. Volunteer shifts go from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. on race day. Individuals and groups are welcome--the more the merrier. Volunteer shifts available are:

  • General Race Morning:  Arriving two hours before the race to help with set up. Perfect shift for early risers!
  • Race Morning Color Zone: Agreeing to work in one of the four on-course color zones. Fun opportunity for large groups!
  • Post Race Clean Up:  You want to help, but you also want to sleep! This shift begins later and helps with clean up.
