Stingray Bay Experience Guide (Temporary/Seasonal)

Description

The Oklahoma City Zoological Park is looking for a personable, energetic, and responsible individual who will, under general supervision, enhance guest experiences by initiating conversations, providing assistance, answering questions, and educating the public about animals in Stingray Bay. This individual also will be are responsible for providing a safe, engaging experience to guests on a daily basis by acting as an interpreter for scheduled and unscheduled exhibit presentations, and operating and performing with an enthusiastic, motivational, and outgoing communication style. The ideal candidate must have ability to initiate discussions and effectively communicate with all age levels through good listening skills, friendliness, enthusiasm, positive attitude, and humor. This individual must also have the ability to learn, understand, and communicate conservation and science concepts and messages to the public and possess excellent public speaking and presentation skills. Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekdays, weekends, some evenings, holidays, and special events. Requirements: High school degree preferred.  Minimum 1 year previous customer service oriented experience. Existing knowledge about marine biology, ecology, conservation and zoology is a plus. Ability to pass pre-employment background check, drug and annual TB test.

The exhibit opening is set for end of May. Once hired, training will begin immediately. The exhibit must be staffed 9-5 daily and will be open 7 days/week. This temporary (seasonal) position works 29 hours (or less) per work week. There is no guarantee of hours per work week, nor consistency in hours assigned should be expected. Hours will fluctuate based on the needs of our business, attendance, and/or weather.
