Our animal care team works with a wide variety of animals, inspire our guests, and have opportunities for local and international field conservation work, professional development, and many other activities. The Oklahoma City Zoological Park is currently looking for an enthusiastic individual who will complement the Children's Zoo Department. The selected candidate will work in a team environment to care for a wide variety of taxa including primates, hoofstock, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates. Responsibilities include daily care and feeding of animals in the collection, maintenance of habitats including some LSS and water quality testing, behavioral observations, record keeping, animal enrichment, and training. Applicants must have a basic knowledge of animal husbandry, be comfortable interacting with the public, and possess excellent communication skills. Experience with animal training, reptile and invertebrate husbandry, and LSS a plus. A Bachelor's Degree in Zoology or Biology is preferred, but not required. A desire to increase knowledge in the field by participating in scientific meetings and conferences is expected. Must be willing to serve on the emergency response team, if requested to do so. The emergency response team responds to animal related emergencies and training including use of firearms is provided for all members.
