Hours and Tips

Regular Hours
  • Open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • All guests must leave Zoo grounds at closing time.
  • Zoo buildings close at 4:45 p.m.
  • The Zoo is closed only on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day.
Extended Seasonal Hours

Late Saturdays - The Zoo opens until 8 p.m. on Saturdays only, May 3 - August 30, 2014.

Early Rise - The Zoo opens at 8 a.m. daily,  July 1 - August 24, 2014.

Rentals

(All rentals are available on a first-come, first-served basis.  Please visit the Strollers Windows in the Zoo's Global Plaza to rent these items.)

  • Strollers-Single: $5.00
  • Strollers-Double: $8.00
  • Wagons: $8.00
  • Wheelchairs: $5.00
  • Electric Convenience Vehicles: $25.00
  • Pet Hotel: $1.00
  • Lockers: $1.00 (4 quarters)

Safari Cart:

(Due to heavier crowds, Safari Carts are not available during Spring Break in March; on Way Back Wednesdays in July and August; the month of October; or other holidays and Zoo events.)

  • The Safari Cart can be rented on a first-come, first-served basis at the front gate or stroller window.
  • The 7-person cart will be driven by a Zoo employee.
  • The cost is $75 for a 2-hour duration.
  • Guests can choose a 10 a.m., 1 p.m. or 3 p.m. time slot.
  • The driver does not provide a specific tour or route.
What to bring

Personal coolers with outside food and drink are permitted. Open-air cooler storage is available by the Jungle Gym playground. Grills, or grilling of any kind, are not permitted.

What not to bring

Pets, plastic lids, plastic straws, glass containers, alcoholic beverages, grills, balloons, radios, skateboards, roller skates, Heelys or other wheeled shoes, inline or roller blades, Frisbees, bicycles or other sports equipment.

Firearms are prohibited on Zoo grounds.

Smoking

By state law, smoking is not permitted in zoological parks. Please refrain from smoking on Zoo grounds or in the parking lot.

Weather Considerations

All rides and attractions operate weather permitting of 55 degrees or higher with wind, rain and crowd considerations.

Feeding Animals

All Zoo animals are fed special diets. Please do not feed them. This rule applies also to the native animals, such as squirrels, peacocks and other birds. We have regularly scheduled animal feedings (i.e., Giraffes and Lorikeets) for your convenience.
