WHAT: The Oklahoma City Zoo announces a contest to name the 12 Nigerian Dwarf Goats that will be taking up residence in our new Children’s Zoo, set to open March 12, 2010. All submitted names will be names of towns in Oklahoma.
WHEN: Friday, December 18 through Wednesday, January 13, 2010
DETAILS: The Oklahoma City Zoo and Frontier Country are pleased to announce our Children's Zoo Name That Goat Contest! Starting now through January 13, you have the opportunity to suggest names for the 12 Nigerian Dwarf Goats that will be taking up residence in our brand new Children's Zoo, set to open on March 12, 2010!
Here's the catch: All submitted names must be names of towns in Oklahoma! We want our new additions to put down some native roots and represent some of our state's finest folks. So get creative and support your hometown or favorite place to visit. Each of our goats is male, so plan your names accordingly!
Vote online at www.okczoo.com and submit your suggestions. The 12 most suggested names will be chosen and the winners announced at www.okczoo.com and on the Zoo's MySpace and Facebook pages by 10 a.m. on January 15.
Plus, 12 lucky contest entrants will receive a prize pack from Frontier Country that includes a plush goat (named for one of Frontier Country's 12 counties) and four tickets to a Frontier Country attraction, such as the Zoo, Oklahoma City Museum of Art, Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History, National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum or Devon Energy River Cruises! Winners will be randomly selected from all participants and notified via email on January 15.
Go wild at the Zoo during the holiday season! Oklahoma’s #1 attraction and one of the top three family-friendly zoos in the nation, the Zoo is located at the crossroads of I-44 and I-35 in Oklahoma City’s Adventure District. Zoo hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily with buildings closing at 4:45 p.m. The Zoo will be closed Christmas Day and New Year’s Day to allow our employees time with family. Regular admission is $7 for adults, $4 for children ages three-11 and seniors ages 65 and over. Children two and under are admitted free. December through February, Mondays are free for everyone! Take advantage of the crisp weather and take a winter safari to the Zoo! To learn more about these and other happenings, call (405) 424-3344 or visit www.okczoo.com.
