The Oklahoma City Zoo is sad to announce the death of our alligator snapping turtle. The well-liked turtle affectionately called Elvis by his caretakers died on May 17, 2012 after receiving treatment for a critical medical situation.

The Oklahoma Zoological Society announced the Commitment to Care capital campaign, a $4.5 million dollar fundraising campaign coupled with $4.5 million from the Oklahoma City Zoo to build a new veterinary hospital at the Oklahoma City Zoo.

The Oklahoma City Zoo and Dr Pepper invite Oklahoma students in grades K-12 to participate in the eighth annual Dr Pepper Vending Machine Art Contest. From February 20 through March 31, 2012, students may submit their artwork for a chance to win one of two $500 savings bonds courtesy of First Security Bank and have their design placed on one of two Dr Pepper vending machines located on Zoo grounds.
