June 6, 2012, was a night for the history books in Oklahoma City. Thousands of ecstatic fans celebrated as the Oklahoma City Thunder won its first Western Conference Championship all while Oklahoma City Zoo staffers quietly witnessed the eleventh red panda birth in the Zoo’s history.
Oklahoma City Zoo chimpanzees known nationally for their capacity to foster infant chimps have a new member in the troop. After being hand-raised at the Lowry Park Zoo in Tampa, Florida, seven-month-old Ruben arrived at the Oklahoma City Zoo on July 30, 2012.

The Oklahoma Zoological Society announced the Commitment to Care capital campaign, a $4.5 million dollar fundraising campaign coupled with $4.5 million from the Oklahoma City Zoo to build a new veterinary hospital at the Oklahoma City Zoo.
