The Oklahoma City Zoo and Dr Pepper invite Oklahoma students to participate in the 10th annual Dr Pepper Vending Machine Art Contest for a chance to win cash prizes and have their design displayed on a Dr Pepper machine at the Zoo. Students in kindergarten through twelfth grade may submit entries from February 24 through March 31, 2014, for a chance to win.

Participating students will have an opportunity to win Visa gift cards starting at $300 courtesy of First Security Bank. New this year, teachers are eligible to win prizes! Teachers of participating students will be entered into a drawing to win one of three $50 gift cards from Porch Supplies. The two grand prize winners will have their designs displayed on a Dr Pepper vending machine at the Zoo for an entire year for thousands to admire. Entries will be judged on creativity and relevance to the contest’s theme, “Celebrate all things zoo–animals, nature and conservation!”

2014 brings cause for celebration as it marks the 10th anniversary of the Dr Pepper Vending Machine Art Contest and a special birthday for the Oklahoma City Zoo who is turning 110! We want students to share in the excitement of these momentous occasions by entering this year’s contest and illustrating to us what they love about the Zoo.

The Zoo is an action leader dedicated to the preservation of the world’s natural resources through global conservation projects, education, awareness and research. Through its conservation efforts, the Zoo supports animals such as Asian and African elephants, rhinoceros, Sumatran tigers and orangutans, Western lowland gorillas, lesser prairie chickens and sea turtles, and their natural habitats. Students, as you create your masterpieces let the Zoo inspire you. Knowing the Zoo’s commitment to care, show us how you celebrate all things zoo–animals, nature and conservation. Together, we CAN make a difference.

Official entry forms are available online at Entries become property of the Oklahoma City Zoo and must be postmarked by March 31, 2014. The winning designs will be unveiled during the Zoo’s earth day celebration, Party for the Planet, on Sunday, April 27, at 2 p.m.

Located in Oklahoma City’s Adventure District, recognized as one of the top three family friendly zoos in the nation and the state’s #1 attraction, the Oklahoma City Zoo is open daily from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. with exhibit buildings closing at 4:45 p.m. Admission is $8 for adults, and $5 for children ages three to 11 and seniors age 65 and over.
