Know any students wild about art? Then this is the contest for them. The Oklahoma City Zoo and Dr Pepper invite Oklahoma students in grades K-12 to participate in the eighth annual Dr Pepper Vending Machine Art Contest. From February 20 through March 31, 2012, students may submit their artwork for a chance to win one of two $500 savings bonds courtesy of First Security Bank and have their design placed on one of two Dr Pepper vending machines located on Zoo grounds. Submitted entries will be judged on creativity and relevance to the contest’s theme, The Zoo + YOU = Conservation!

Above all else, the Oklahoma City Zoo is dedicated to the preservation of the Earth's natural resources through conservation, education, awareness and scientific research. In order to fulfill this goal, the Zoo aids in numerous local, national and international conservation projects. These projects are helping animals such as Lesser Prairie Chickens, Sumatran Tigers and Orangutans, Asian and African elephants, Horned Lizards, Rhinoceros and Western Lowland Gorillas, and their native homes. Now we want to hear from the future generations. Students are encouraged to illustrate ideas they have for helping the Zoo save wildlife and wild places. Participants may include any of the animals listed above or do their own research by visiting the Zoo to find other endangered animals. Together, we CAN (Conservation Action Now) make a difference.

Official entry forms are available online at All submitted entries become property of the Oklahoma City Zoo and must be postmarked by Saturday, March 31, 2012. The winning designs will be unveiled at the Zoo on Sunday, April 22 at 1 p.m. as part of the Party for the Planet festivities.
